ANDY HESSENTHALER TO FEATURE IN GEORGE HOWARD FUNDRAISING MATCH

Gills Assistant boss Andy Hessenthaler to feature in George Howard fundraising match as an update on the goalkeeper's condition is provided

This Sunday a fundraising match has been organised as clubs, supporters, and members of the general public across the county continue to show their support to goalkeeper George Howard.

The 20-year-old was involved in a serious car accident while on holiday in South Africa just under two weeks ago, and remains in hospital as a result.

A Kent Pro XI will play a George Howard Kent League XI at Coldharbour Leisure Centre in Eltham with kick off scheduled for 1:30pm on June 8.

The venue has been donated for free and supporters can donate their admission fee on arrival.

Former Gillingham and Millwall striker and current Sevenoaks Town manager Micky Collins will manage a side of players from Kent with confirmed players including Luke Rooney, Simon Osborn, Jay Saunders and Gills Assistant Manager Andy Hessenthaler.

The latest update we have on George's condition, via his gofundme page, is that the player is breathing on his own without the aid of life support.

So far over £12.5k has been raised to contribute to his recovery, and you can donate by clicking here.

The thoughts of everyone at the club remain with George, his family, and friends at this difficult time.
