TAYLOR: I'M DELIGHTED TO GET MCGLASHAN ON BOARD

Peter Taylor happy to get Jermaine McGlashan on board as the former Cheltenham winger agrees a two-year deal at MEMS Priestfield Stadium

Peter Taylor has revealed his delight in capturing the signature of Jermaine McGlashan on a two-year contract.

The winger turned down a new offer at former club Cheltenham last month and will join his new team-mates at MEMS Priestfield on July 1.

Taylor, who has seen the player on several occasions in the past, is pleased to have got his man and thinks he will be a consistent threat to opposition teams.

Speaking to the club’s official website he said: “I’ve never worked with him before but I saw him a lot when he was at Aldershot when he was playing against teams I managed and he was always a threat.

“I’m very happy that Jermaine has decided to join us, he had some good options but it’s nice that he’s coming to Gillingham and he still has that desire.

“He started in non-league, went to Aldershot and Cheltenham and he still has more to prove. He’s delighted he’s in League One but he won’t be standing still.

“I know that Managers that have worked with him all feel that he is really improving – that’s the type we are after. We want someone to get even better and Jermaine fits that mould.

“We are interested in people who want to be here, ever since I met Jermaine he wants to be here so we’re really happy with that one.”
