FA SELECT GILLINGHAM FC DUO

Two of our Centre of Excellence players have been called up by the FA

Congratulations to Gillingham players Alice Bussey and Sydney Davis who have been selected to attend The FA’s Elite Performance Camp later this month.

Both Alice and Sydney are current members of our Girls Centre of Excellence Under-13’s squad, Alice has been with us since joining as an Under-10 in 2010 and Sydney as an Under-11 in 2011.

The camp is one of three  taking place during March, one covering the North of the country, one covering the Midlands the other covering the Southern Region. Alice and Sydney are just two of 20 who have been selected for the Southern camp, which takes place at the University of Surrey on Saturday 22 March.

Under-13’s Manager Harry Grant said, "I am hugely proud of both Alice and Sydney being selected for the performance camps, this demonstrates how hard work and dedication can really pay dividends. They show a great attitude towards developing not only themselves but others too.

“Additionally both girls have been with the centre for a number of years proving how effective the clubs long term player development is. Alice & Sydney are excellent role models for the younger generation of players coming through who we hope will achieve similar success"

“Henry Willard, Centre Manager added “Both Sydney and Alice have made huge strides in their football development since the start of the season, and I’m delighted for the two of them to have received this recognition by the FA.

“The Elite Performance Camps are designed to support Centre of Excellence players across the country who have been recognized as having ‘international’ potential, providing those selected with the opportunity to train and play amongst some of the highest level players within their region, in this case the entire south of England as far down as Somerset.

“Being current U13’s neither Alice or Sydney have received a call-up before, so it’s a tremendous achievement for the two of them and a wonderful opportunity to go and enjoy themselves, proudly represent Gillingham Football Club and hopefully show the England Girls’ staff what they can do.”

Everyone at Gillingham FC would like to wish Alice and Sydney the very best of luck on their camp.
