FISH JOINS POMPEY ON LOAN

Gills defender Matt Fish has joined League Two side Portsmouth on a short term loan deal

Matt Fish has joined Sky Bet League Two side Portsmouth on loan until January 3.

The right back has made six appearances so far this season for the Gills, most recently in the 2-1 win over Crawley in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on November 11.

He only played twice last season due to a cruciate knee ligament injury which was picked up in the opening four minutes of the club's opening league fixture against Colchester, and he didn't feature again until the final match of the campaign at home to Shrewsbury.

With opportunities limited so far this season the defender has decided to drop down a division and travel to Fratton Park where he has signed in time to be eligible for the club's home game against Morecambe tomorrow.

Fish is one of Gillingham's longest serving players having arrived at Priestfield from Dover in the summer of 2011, and has since gone on to make 85 appearances and scored four goals.

One of which was among the contenders for the 2012/13 `Goal of the Season` award when he scored the winner in a 1-0 win over Accrington Stanley.

Matt is available for selection for Pompey up until, and including, the club's first home league game of the 2015 calendar year against Tranmere Rovers.
