TAYLOR HOPEFUL OF CUP UPSET

Peter Taylor looking for a cup win to kick start league season

Peter Taylor is hoping a result against Bristol City in the FA Cup can spark an upturn in league form.

The Gills welcome the Robins to Priestfield in the first round of the competition looking to cause an upset with Steve Cotterill’s men unbeaten in the league to date, but Taylor is hopeful a victory could kick start their season.

Speaking to the club website he said: “It’s a big test for us because Steve has a good team there, they haven’t had lots of injuries and are in confident form.

“It’s a tough time to play them but it’s the FA Cup, it’s the most famous cup competition for causing upsets and hopefully we can do that on Saturday.

“We can’t afford to rest anybody – we need a result, it’s as simple as that. We know our league form isn’t good enough and we need to get some pride back and fight like made for each other and hopefully if we get a result it can lead to more positive weeks.

“Amine Linganzi and Aaron Morris are still missing; they are at least two weeks’ away. Glenn Morris trained on Thursday for the first time when we thought it would be a bit longer; Callum Davies has a chance for the JPT on Tuesday.”
