CALLUM DAVIES SIGNS NEW GILLS CONTRACT

Callum Davies has signed a new contract at Priestfield which will see him remain at Gillingham until the summer of 2016

Callum Davies has today signed a new one-year extension to his current contract with Gillingham which will keep him at MEMS Priestfield Stadium until the summer of 2016.

Callum, 21, would have been out of contract at the end of this season but his recent performances have been rewarded with a new 12-month deal.

The centre-back, who has been with the club since the age of seven, has to date made 37 appearances for the Gills in all competitions.

Within that time he has played at centre half, at right back and in defensive midfield and captained the team for the first time earlier this season when Gills defeated Stevenage 1-0 in the first round of the JPT at the Lamex Stadium.

On signing his new deal Callum said: "I'm very pleased, I've been at Gills since I was seven so I'm happy.

"I'm really enjoying my Football so it would be silly not to [extend the contract] and I'm pleased to have sorted it out and I can now concentrate on my game.

"This season has gone better than I ever could have imagined, I've played more than I thought I would, I've Captained the team which was a brilliant experience so hopefully now I can kick on and let my feet do the talking."

A full video interview with Callum can be seen on Gills Player tomorrow morning.
