St. Margarets have become the next team to advance to the Quarter Finals of our ever popular Half Time Shootout Competition
It was another exciting encounter during the interval at the Gills v Crawley Town match last Saturday as we witnessed Barnsole Primary School take on St. Margarets at Troy Town COE Primary School for a spot in the Quarter Finals of the Half-Time Shoot-Out competition. The players had seven seconds to score from the edge of the D and could choose to dribble and shoot or simply fire one at goal.
The keepers were allowed to move off their line as soon as the whistle sounded and put the striker under pressure meaning that they both had to think and act fast.
Both teams, who have competed in the competition in previous seasons, were bursting with confidence as they lined up in front of the Rainham end to have their opportunity at scoring a goal in front of the cheering home fans.
St Margarets got off to a fantastic start, netting home their opening two spot kicks in stylish fashion and instantly getting the upper hand over their opponents.
Barnsole did show promising signs scoring their third penalty, however, on the day St Margarets were able to clinch the victory and book their place in the Quarter finals of the competition, netting four out of five of their spot kicks.
Thank you to both teams for their participation and congratulations to St. Margarets on their victory.
We look forward to welcoming Wouldham COE Primary School and Cedar Primary School to Priestfield in the next Half-Time Shoot-out fixture which will take place on November 15th when the Gills take on Leyton Orient.
