TAYLOR: WE DESERVED TO GET SOMETHING

Peter Taylor delivers his immediate reaction following the 1-0 defeat against Notts County at Meadow Lane

Peter Taylor said his side deserved to get something from the game at Notts County after a narrow 1-0 defeat at Meadow Lane on Saturday.

Shaun Harrad found the net late on in the first half, and despite a number of chances to try and force an equalizer following the interval, the visitors were unable to find a way past Roy Carroll.

The former Manchester United man played well to maintain his clean sheet, also saving a second half penalty from sub Luke Norris as Gills missed out on gaining at least a point.

Speaking after the game Peter said: “I was very pleased with the response and the way we played for the 90 minutes to be honest, but I was very disappointed with the goal we conceded because their man got his head to it better than ours.

“I think we’ve got to learn from that and that’s the type of thing that was happening too much last year.

"Apart from that I thought we tried to pass the ball around and we created good chances in the second half and it’s just a shame that we have come away with nothing again.

“We’ve got to believe that if we keep doing what we are doing then the results will change.

“We were unlucky last week on the strength of the lateness of the two goals but today I think we deserved to get something.”
