WE'VE LET A LOT OF PEOPLE DOWN - TAYLOR

Peter Taylor concedes his side let the supporters down at Priestfield following a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Scunthorpe

Peter Taylor reflected on what he described as `a very disappointing day` following the 3-0 defeat to Scunthorpe at MEMS Priestfield Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The sending off of Captain Doug Loft on 34 minutes proved pivotal in how the game progressed, with the Irons netting three times without reply to inflict Gills first home league defeat of the season.

After the game Peter said: “A very disappointing day, not just the result but, to me, apart from the first minute, there wasn’t enough about us.

“I can only hold my hands up to say that it’s not good enough and we’ve let a lot of people down.

“I know what they [the players] are capable of doing and I would hope they are disappointed with the standard. They know they are better than that.

“I just hope they are feeling the same way as me at the minute.

“We have let our supporters down, there were 7,000 people here which is a fantastic attendance and those are the days where are you are desperate to show them what you are capable of doing and unfortunately we have shown them a negative side.

“I don’t think we are that far away from being a decent team but we didn’t show it today.”
