On Tuesday 15th December Gillingham FC’s Boardroom, reserved for the club’s VIP guests on a match day, was transformed for some very special visitors.
The Gills invited residents from local care homes to enjoy a two course dinner, bingo and much more entertainment alongside Chairman Paul Scally, Manager Justin Edinburgh and the entire playing squad and coaching staff.
Chairman Paul Scally was delighted to welcome guests to MEMS Priestfield Stadium.
“It was a real pleasure to welcome everyone to enjoy an afternoon out and to be entertained by our first team players. I know everyone had a fantastic time and hopefully we brightened up the festive period for all of our guests.”
“Christmas is often about family and the children, sometimes the elderly community can be overlooked, so it was our pleasure to ensure this wasn’t the case in Kent.”
“The event could not have taken place without the help and support of all our partners and businesses within the local community who helped contribute. The afternoon proved to be a very special one for Gillingham Football Club.”
The club invited residents from care homes including Charing House Care, Pembroke House, Yew Tree Lodge, Victory Care, Friston House Care Home and Bryon House.
Rebecca Ellen-Clarke from Friston House revealed how much her residents enjoyed the event.
"Once the residents got home they were all sat around telling other residents and staff about their day and had a big smile on their face. We also had two Gillingham Supporters who we brought along and they have already hung their signed Christmas Card up on their bedroom walls."
"All in all, it was a great dinner and the whole afternoon got us in the Festive spirit!"
