Featherby Junior School become the first team to advance to the 2014/15 HTSO Semi Finals
This week we witnessed another thrilling encounter as we welcomed reigning champions Featherby Junior School and Halling Primary School back to Priestfield to take part in the first of this season’s Quarter-Finals of the Half-Time Shoot-Out competition. The players are allowed seven seconds to score a goal from the edge of the penalty area by either dribbling the ball forward or taking on the goal keeper, or by simply firing a shot and going for glory.
As the two schools took their seats in the Medway stand it was clear to see the excitement levels were high with numerous players discussing their celebrations and what technique of shot they would try.
After a short reminder on the rules, followed by a quick warm up on the pitch, the two teams were lined up on the edge of the D anxiously awaiting to be called up for their opportunity to score in front of the cheering Rainham End.
The shoot-out got off to a flying start with Featherby netting their opening four shots in impressive fashion, instantly gaining the upper hand on their opponents Halling whilst adding some impressive celebrations along the way.
Halling gave it everything they had, but they didn’t quite have enough to overcome Featherby who clinched victory on the day and advanced into the Semi-Finals of the competition.
A big thank you for both teams taking part and congratulations to Featherby Junior School on advancing to the Semi -Finals of the competition.
The Half-Time Shoot-Out will be back on the 28th February when St Margaret’s at Troy Town COE Primary School and Allhallows Primary Academy compete for a spot in the Semi-Finals when the Gills face Barnsley at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium.
