Gillingham Manager Justin Edinburgh says the club's management staff will ensure the players do not get complacent following good run of form
Justin Edinburgh says he and the rest of the Gillingham management staff will not allow the players to become complacent. The Gills are seven games unbeaten in all competitions and recorded a fantastic 4-2 win over MK Dons at MEMS Priestfield Stadium on Saturday, and the gaffer is confident results will keep coming if the correct application is put in.
Speaking to Gills Player he said: “First and foremost, as we were away last Tuesday, the home reception of the crowd was absolutely outstanding and played a major part in claiming us the victory.
“Obviously for us that’s three successive wins now and I think four here at home so I’m delighted with that. Having the four different scorers show that we have goals within the team.
“The pleasing thing for me was the energy levels of the team and the way we pressed and didn’t allow MK Dons to play their normal Footballing game was a real testament to the players.
“Another aspect that pleased me was the way we bounced back; we didn’t get disheartened with them coming back into the game.
“We took the game back to them almost immediately, certainly with the second goal where there was some good build up play and a sublime finish.
“What you mustn’t do is take your eye off what has got you there. Complacency can quickly set in which me and my staff won’t allow.
“Getting to know this group of players there is a focus and a determination and we will keep guiding them in the right direction.
“The results are coming along but results will go more for you if you are applying yourself the way we are at this present time.”
