EHMER: I CAN'T WAIT TO GET STARTED

Gills defender keen for season to begin after agreeing a three year contract at Priestfield

Max Ehmer says he is delighted to be back at Gillingham.

The 23-year-old centre back finally put end to weeks of speculation by signing a three year deal at MEMS Priestfield Stadium on Thursday, but on arriving at the club he revealed his gratitude to the staff at Queens Park Rangers for their continued support.

Speaking to the club’s official website he said: “I’m really happy to be back, it was hard leaving QPR but I thought this was the best thing to do and I can’t wait now.

“I always wanted to [come back] but it was whether QPR would let me, but in the end they let me go and now I’ve signed which I’m really happy about.

“They helped me a lot with my education and everything to do with Football; I appreciate everything they have done for me.”

Max is pleased to have committed his long term future to the club and is now eager to get going, with the Gills first league match coming at home to Sheffield United on Saturday August 8.

He added: “It’s always good to have three years but I still have to play well because in two years the Manager may not fancy me, I’ve got to be on my game all the time.

“We are working hard and come the 8th of August we will be ready.”
