Gills boss looking to add new faces following 2-1 win over Bromley
Justin Edinburgh says he hasn’t ruled out further additions to the squad before the league season begins.Gillingham secured their third win in as many games during their pre-season campaign with a 2-1 victory over Bromley, but the Manager still feels the squad needs a couple more bodies to add strength in depth.
He said: “We are still quite light so we are still looking to bring players in, we are working away with that and hopefully we can do that before the season starts.
“We’ve got Jordan until January and if we can we’d like to secure one or two others for the whole season – we know where we stand then.
“What I don’t want is money to be the priority coming to Gillingham.”
The game itself saw Gills take a two goal lead within 30 minutes, and although Bromley did pull a goal back 10 minutes from the end, Justin thought it was a good performance.
He added: “We made a very good start and it was a fantastic first half. There was some really good play with a lot of chances created and that was pleasing, it was always going to be difficult to maintain that but overall I’m very pleased.”
The second goal saw Bradley Dack produce a stunning effort to beat former Gills stopper Alan Julian, but the Manager says it was the type of goal he is capable of producing.
He said: “It was a very good finish but we know what Bradley is about and he has that quality in abundance. He’s come back in really good condition, he’s taken a lot out of last year and he’s a bright young player and we are excited for the season ahead for him.”
