Justin Edinburgh has bolstered his midfield options with the capture of Jordan Houghton from Chelsea on loan
Gillingham have clinched the signing of Chelsea midfielder Jordan Houghton on loan until January 3.The 19-year-old won the FA Youth Cup with the Blues during the 2013/14 season, scoring in the second leg of the Final against Fulham in a 5-3 win which helped the team secure a 7-6 aggregate victory.
Last season Jordan was handed the armband to Captain the U21 side, and again scored against Fulham in October in a season which saw Chelsea finish third in the Barclays U21 Premier League behind Liverpool and Manchester United.
He has yet to make his debut for the first team; however he has represented England at U16, U17 and U20 level.
On capturing his signature Justin Edinburgh said: “I’m really pleased Jordan has chosen to join us until January.
“He chose us over a number of other clubs and I’m pleased to have secured the signing.
“He is a very hungry young player who has had an excellent grounding at Chelsea; he won the Youth Cup the season before last, playing an integral part in the process, and has represented his country at three different age groups.
“He is a terrific addition to our squad and I look forward to working with him.”
A full interview with Jordan will be on Gills Player this evening.
