GAVIN HOYTE SIGNS FOR BARNET

Former Gills defender joins recently promoted Barnet

Gavin Hoyte has signed for League Two club Barnet on a two year contract.

The 25-year-old was released by Gillingham in May after a nine month stint in Kent and has opted to join the Bees following their promotion back to the Football League.

During his time at MEMS Priestfield Stadium Gavin played 35 times for the Gills, his last appearance coming against Scunthorpe at Glanford Park in late April.

He had previously been at Arsenal as a youngster before stints at Watford, Brighton, Lincoln, Wimbledon and Dagenham.

On joining Barnet Gavin told the club website: “I’m delighted to be at Barnet, the club won the league last year and coming up into League Two they’re going to be on a big high and I want to be part of it.

“I can’t wait to get back to playing football again, you really miss it when you’re off over the summer so I can’t wait for the league to start.”

Meanwhile former Gills boss, now Barnet Manager, Martin Allen added: “Gavin’s a very good player and he’s at a good age.

“I spoke to some people at Gillingham that gave him fantastic references and we have signed another very good player today.”

We would like to thank Gavin for his services while at Priestfield and we wish him well for the future.
