GILLS TO WELCOME SHEFFIELD UNITED ON OPENING DAY

The club's fixtures ahead of the 2015-16 season have been announced

Gillingham will play Sheffield United at home on the opening day of the 2015/16 Sky Bet League One season.

All fixtures for the Football League and Premier League were announced on Wednesday morning, with Justin Edinburgh’s side welcoming last season’s play-off semi-finalists to MEMS Priestfield Stadium on Saturday August 8.

A trip to Plymouth in the Capital One Cup follows three days later before back to back away league games at Port Vale and Bradford City respectively.

Wigan Athletic will visit Priestfield on August 22 with Blackpool, having also been relegated from the Championship, travelling to Kent on September 12.

On Boxing Day Gillingham will travel to Swindon Town, with the first game of 2016 being a home fixture against Bradford on January 2.

Seven days later the reverse fixture against Wigan will take place, with our trip to Blackpool occurring on January 30.

As for Millwall our trip to the New Den will be on December 19, with the reverse game taking place on the final day of the season which will take place on Sunday May 8.
