Gills kick off week of remembrance on Sunday afternoon
Gillingham Football Club began a week of remembrance on Sunday afternoon as Gillingham Ladies hosted local rivals Herne Bay Ladies in the FA Cup.
The Ladies players all proudly wore kit adorned with poppies during the game as well as observing an impeccable minute’s silence ahead of kick-off.
A brace from Kallie Balfour and an Ashleigh Loosemore strike was enough to ensure Gillingham Ladies progressed to the next round of the FA Cup.
The Gills will continue to pay their respect to servicemen and women this week with a minute’s silence scheduled for the club’s next Football League fixture.
The club will be joined by the Girl’s Centre of Excellence teams who also have a game scheduled on Saturday. The girls and first team players will all be wearing poppies on their kits and hosting a minute’s silence before their respective fixtures.
The club invites all fans to take part in the minute of silence on Saturday ahead of the team’s clash against Bury.
