MOMENT TO SAVOUR FOR LONG SERVING SEASON TICKET HOLDER

Gills Season Ticket Holder selected at random to present Rory Donnelly

Sean Spillett has been following the Gills through the ups and downs for 44 years and was given a moment to remember prior to Gillingham’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie against Yeovil last Tuesday evening.

Accompanied by friend and fellow season ticket holder Anthony Weekes, Sean presented Rory Donnelly with September’s Goal of the Month award in partnership with Europa Sports.

Rory’s stunning solo effort against Fleetwood just pipped Jade Keogh’s free kick for Gills Ladies in the voting and Sean was chosen at random to present Rory with his award.

“It was a lovely feeling and nice to present the award with my friend Anthony, who I’ve been coming to Priestfield with for years” revealed Sean. “I feel honoured to be given the opportunity and it’s brilliant to meet the players, they’re nice lads and fit well in what is a lovely, family football club.”

Sean added, “I’ve been supporting Gillingham since I was seven, so 44 years now and currently have a season ticket in the Medway stand. My favourite Priestfield moment was winning the League Two title in the 2012-2013 season."

Sean was present when Rory scored the goal that secured the Goal of the Month, he explained:

“I was here, it was a fantastic goal and it was without doubt a deserved winner of the goal of the month. It was brilliant, when it flew in everyone just went mental.”

“He’s a class player and I think he’ll play in the European Championships. He could be a shock inclusion in the Northern Ireland squad.”

Following the news of his award, Donnelly took to Twitter: “Thanks to all the fans who voted my goal as goal of the month and thanks to my team mates and the manager and all the staff.”

Keep an eye out for the October Goal of the Month competition and you could be the next season ticket holder given the call up to present the award to our winning player.
