Joseph Fenton has been a Gillingham FC Season Ticket holder for over a decade.
Following the Gills through thick and thin, he was given a birthday to remember as The Gills romped to a 5-1 victory against Fleetwood Town last Tuesday evening.
Joseph, selected at random by the club, was given a surprise phone call informing him that he was the lucky season ticket holder chosen to present the first of the club’s Goal of the Month competitions in partnership with Europa Sports.
Gills fans voted in their hundreds for Bradley Dack’s strike against Sheffield United to be the winner of August’s competition and before Gills home game under the lights, Joseph was invited to present Bradley with his award.
“I was very shocked to receive the phone call” revealed Joseph, “It was my birthday that week and to get the call and be invited by the club to be involved was a good birthday treat.”
Joseph added, “I’ve been a season ticket holder for 11 years and have supported the Gills since I moved to Chatham in 1972. I lived in Gordon Road from 1977-98 and have been a supporter throughout.”
Talking about the goal that secured Bradley the Goal of the Month, Joseph said:
“It was a fabulous strike, so much so I text my son who was unable to make the game due to work, that he’d missed a real cracker!”
“It was a good experience to present the award, nice to meet Bradley and get on the pitch; the result made it even better!”
Gillingham’s September Goal of the Month competition will be coming up soon, could you be the next season ticket holder called upon to present our winning player? Keep your eyes peeled…
