Gills midfielder encouraged by the club's strong start to the season
Bradley Dack says the trust the players have in one another has been a key factor in the Gills strong start to the season.Gillingham kept their place at the top of Sky Bet League One with a 2-1 win over Blackpool at Priestfield on Saturday, with Dack scoring the winning goal on 81 minutes.
The midfielder is delighted with the start the team have made and paid tribute to the new signings who have quickly settled.
He said: “It was a tough game, the gaffer told us before the game that we can’t take any team for granted.
“I always felt we were going to score the winning goal with our confidence at the minute, it always feels like it’s just around the corner.
“The new players who have come in have been excellent, they have come in and settled straight away which is a rare thing in Football. Usually it takes a few games but they have hit the ground running, as we have as a team.
“We are all together and we need to trust each other.”
Dack took his goal well, taking advantage of a loose ball following a cross from substitute Rory Donnelly.
He added: “It’s gone over the top to Rory; he’s lashed it across the box and taken a ricochet. It landed in my path and I slotted it home from six yards.
“It’s going really well for me personally but the team is the most important thing – we take every game as it comes.”
Bradley, 21, also mentioned the club’s pre-season training camp which was held in Le Touquet in July and believes the trip had a positive impact on the team.
He said: “That trip was important, we got worked really hard and then we played a game on the last day. The result (Gills losing 6-1 to Amiens) didn’t tell the whole story but it was a good bit of team bonding and it’s paying off now.”
