GILLINGHAM V DONCASTER ROVERSSky Bet League One
MEMS Priestfield Stadium
Saturday September 5
Kick-Off, 3pm
Team News:
Aaron Morris (hamstring) is the only absentee for Gillingham this weekend. The midfielder could return next weekend but this game has come too soon for him.
Emmanuel Osadebe (calf), Cody McDonald (knee) and Doug Loft (calf) all played at least 60 minutes in a development game during the week and are all fit if required.
As for Doncaster they have no fresh injury or suspension concerns but could hand league debuts to duo Cameron Stewart and Oscar Gobern.
Richie Wellens will play no part as his future remains in the balance.
Luke McCullough (knee) Harry Forrester (knee) and Nathan Tyson (hamstring) are all out. Rob Jones (neck) is closer to full fitness but will not travel to Kent.
Manager Comments:
Justin Edinburgh – “We’ve got to put performances on which excite the crowd and with that they will get behind us. Never in any game this year are we going to be entitled to win, we need to earn the right.
“Doncaster have had some excellent results of late, it’s another tough game against a good footballing side.”
Paul Dickov - (courtesy of Doncaster FC Website): “They finished last season well under Justin and made some good signings.
"They’re a very energetic side who are a threat going forward so it’s going to be a battle but we’re going in to it with a lot of confidence.”
Previous Meetings:
In total the teams have met on 57 occasions and Gillingham very much boss the head to head statistics. The Kent club have won 31 of those matches, 14 have been draws with Donny winning only 12 fixtures.
The last time the two sides met was earlier this year at Priestfield where a 1-1 draw was played out. John Marquis equalised for the hosts before the interval with Stuart Nelson unlucky to be beaten with a wind assisted free kick.
In the reverse game a double from Luke Norris at the Keepmoat Stadium helped Gills seal a 2-1 win in Yorkshire.
