Gillingham manager Justin Edinburgh confident of a result ahead of Saturday's trip to Burton Albion
Manager Justin Edinburgh believes the Gills will deliver the result needed against Burton Albion on Saturday to remain in the play-off hunt.
Sitting one point behind sixth-placed Barnsley in the League One table, the Gills travel to the Pirelli Stadium this weekend to face a team seeking to secure automatic promotion to the Championship.
“Burton don’t concede many goals, and we’ll have to be at our best to get something out the game, but we know what we need to do,” said Edinburgh.
“I think a lot of people have written us off, and that’s dangerous. We owe it to ourselves and each other that we take it into the last game.
“I still feel we are capable, have the mindset and determination to go to Burton and get the result.
“It’s a test for us all, myself, my staff, the players, and I believe we’ll get the result to make sure the season is alive.”
Having previously admitted his disappointment over last Saturday’s defeat to Shrewsbury Town, the Gills manager admitted he took some positives out of the game.
He added: “It’s probably the best we’ve played – certainly in possession of the ball and our attacking play – in the last few weeks.
“We looked like we had goals in us, we had plenty of shots and put in plenty of crosses, on another day we might have scored a few more.”
Edinburgh added that Bradley Garmston, Adam El-Abd and Andrew Crofts are all unlikely to feature in Saturday’s match.
