FEATHERBY THROUGH TO FINAL

Reigning Champions are the first team through to the Finals of the Lawtech Half-time Shoot-out at the Gills.

Last Saturday we welcomed HTSO reigning Champions Featherby Junior School and Minterne Community Junior School to the MEMs Priestfield Stadium for the first Semi-Final this season.

The players had seven seconds to score from the edge of the D and could choose to dribble and shoot or simply fire one at goal. The keepers were allowed to move off their line as soon as the whistle sounded and put the striker under pressure meaning that they both had to think and act fast.

With half-time fast approaching the teams lined up in the tunnel and waited for the whistle to blow and as it did they made their way on the pitch to warm-up in front of the Rainham End faithful.

The shoot-out got off to a fantastic start with Featherby taking the early lead when they slotted home their first and their keeper pulled of a fantastic save to deny Minterne. Featherby continued to pile on the pressure, scoring their next four penalties and with their keeper in fine form saving a further two penalties, Minterne were unable to get back in to the tie.

Congratulations to Featherby who are the first team through to the Final and will find out who their opponents will be when St Margarets COE Junior School and St Margaret’s of Troy Town COE Primary School meet this Saturday when the Gills face Shrewsbury Town.

Thank you to both teams and congratulations again to Featherby Junior School.
