The club's matchday programme triumphs in the Independent View Awards
Gillingham FC's matchday programme has claimed two prizes in this year's Independent View Awards, a yearly competition run by some of football's most highly-respected programme enthusiasts and collectors. The Gills 2016/17 programme, which is sold at every Sky Bet League One home game for just £3, picked up the division's prize for Best Design.
In the Best Programme Award, the Gills claimed the runners-up trophy, finishing just behind Scunthorpe United.
Programme editor Nick Bull said: "It is an honour to be recognised by Independent View, and I'm delighted that the Gills' programme has received the recognition I feel it deserves.
"My thanks go out to our brilliant designer Paul Turvey, as his work on this year's programme continues to set the standard in League One and beyond. He works tirelessly to ensure every issue looks as spectacular as possible.
"Integral to programme design are photographs, and thanks to the work of Julian Hart and Colin Nash at the brilliant Kent Pro Images, we are never short of stunning and unique imagery to include in each issue.
"Finally, it is an absolute pleasure to have so many funny, intelligent and knowledgable Gills fans writing for the programme this season. Without the words of Eddie Allcorn, Andy Bradley, Nigel Clark, Julian Hart, Chris Lynham and Chris Willis, not to mention the contributions from Bryan Bull, Rehman Chishti MP, Stuart Nelson and Mark Patterson, there would be a lot of blank space!"
