St Mark's COE Primary School take victory in the club's latest Half-time Shoot-out fixture.
Our last home fixture against Swindon Town saw game seven of the first round of the Lawtech Half-time Shoot-out take place between Wouldham All Saints COE Primary School and St Mark’s COE Primary School.
As the Gills and Swindon walked down the tunnel at the end of the first half with the scores equal the schools proudly walked on to the Priestfield pitch and began their warm-up.
The players had seven seconds to score from the edge of the D and could choose to dribble and shoot or simply fire one at goal. The keepers were allowed to move off their line as soon as the whistle sounded and put the striker under pressure meaning that they both had to think and act fast.
The shoot-out got off to an eventful start as both Wouldham and St Mark's missed their first penalties, Wouldham then missed their second. This gave St Marks a great opportunity to take advantage and the lead when they scored their second penalty with a fantastic strike. Both schools scored with their next shots before Wouldham missed their fourth. This gave St Marks the chance to extend their lead but the Wouldham’s keeper had other ideas and pulled of an amazing save to deny them. Wouldham were unable to apply the pressure, missing their next penalty leaving St Marks to calmly slot home their fifth for the win and a place in the quarter-finals.
Well done to both teams for their brilliant efforts and congratulations to St Mark’s Primary School, we look forward to seeing you in Quarter Finals taking place later in the season.
Our next Half-Time-Shoot-Out competition will take place on Saturday February 13 between Davington Primary School and St Margaret’s COE Junior School when Gillingham face Barnsley FC at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium.
