Our next home against Peterborough FC will see two very lucky children become mascots for the day at MEMS Priestfield Stadium.
The Free Kicks Foundation is a Peterborough based charity whose aim is to provide football-related activities for ill, bereaved and disadvantaged children, to give them a day to remember with their favourite football club.
The charity is run on a voluntary basis by Steve Thorpe and Sam Downing. Steve’s main responsibility is fundraising as well as using his extensive media contacts to gain publicity. Sam is the Kick Co-ordinator, she liaises with clubs, hospitals and families to ensure that the children have a day to remember.
Thanks to the tireless work of The Free Kicks Foundation we were able to offer two children, one from Abbey Court Community Special School and one from Danecourt School the opportunity to become mascots for the day on 23rd January.
The children will be treated to behind the scene access to the stadium before having the opportunity to head in to the changing room to meet the Gills squad and management. Once they have met the players the children will head out on to the pitch to have a kick about before leading the teams out for kick-off, they can then take their seats to watch the game.
We hope that both children will enjoy their experience and we look forward to welcoming them and their families next Saturday.
