Gills boss previews weekend trip to Doncaster in Sky Bet League One
Justin Edinburgh said his players are determined to get back to winning ways as the squad prepare for their trip to Doncaster this weekend.
The Gills suffered a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Wigan last Thursday with the hosts coming back from 2-0 down, but the Manager says the players have responded very well and are focused on recording a positive result at the Keepmoat.
He said: “It was a tough one to take but I’ve looked at the game on numerous occasions and if anything I think we looked too comfortable and perhaps lapsed a bit of concentration on a couple of the goals.
“That’s only the second time this season we have taken the lead and not gone on to take points so it’s not a bad ratio but to come off and lose in the manner we did was a real blow.
“We can’t look back, we can only look forward and we can only get better.
“They [Doncaster] are an improving side, Darren has gone in there and started to implement his own ideas but anyone playing us will know that we are a very good side and full of confidence.
“We’ve recently had four successive wins; the overall performance at Wigan was as good as you will see. We have a real desire and hunger to get a good result.”
With just 20 games left to play Justin was asked what will be required to stay at the business end of the table.
He said: “There will be a lot of ingredients that will be needed to be successful, we’ve had consistency and we are as well placed as anyone. We are above where wanted to be.”
