Congratulations to U17s GK, Katie Startup who has been selected to represent England in the upcoming U17s Women’s NTC Invitational in Los Angeles next month.
Katie has just returned from the latest England camp and has secured her place in the U17 squad who will be travelling to California.
The squad will be playing their games at the StubHub Center in Carson, California and will compete against teams from the USA, Japan and South Korea.
Katie said 'After getting back from the International training camp this weekend and hearing the news I was so happy. It's a great opportunity for us to test ourselves against some of the best teams in the world and to play teams from outside of Europe. I'm really looking forward to the experience and the chance to once again represent my country!'
The squad are currently gearing up for the Elite round of the qualifiers of the UEFA Championship, where they will face Belgium, Iceland and Serbia in March.
U17s Manager, Pete Sayer said 'We are once again extremely proud to hear of Katie's call up to the England squad. Such amazing opportunities don't just get handed to players and Katie is testament to what you can achieve through hard work and commitment, on top of her undoubted ability. I, along with my assistant Cori and the rest of the U17 squad will be watching to see how she gets on out in the USA next month and wish her and the girls the best of luck.'
Good luck to Katie and the squad from all at Gillingham FC.
