SHEFFIELD UNITED GAME LIVE ON SKY

Home fixture against the Blades moved to Sunday, September 4 for TV

Gillingham FC’s forthcoming EFL League One home fixture against Sheffield United will now take place on Sunday, September 4, in line with it being shown live on Sky Sports.

The match will be the first time the Gills receive live television coverage for a fixture at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium since January 2014, when Cody McDonald’s last-minute winner earned the club a 1-0 victory over Wolves.

Kick-off for the rearranged fixture will now be at 2.15pm.

“This is a great opportunity for the club and our players to show themselves positively in front of the TV cameras,” said manager Justin Edinburgh. “We’ll embrace the opportunity and hopefully deliver the result and performance our fans want.”

The match will be the Blades’ first visit to the MEMS Priestfield Stadium since losing 4-0 on the opening day of the 2015/16 season in Kent. Goals from Luke Norris, Deji Oshilaja, John Egan and Bradley Dack earned the Gills a memorable victory against the then League One title favourites.
