GILLS HEADING TO BOULOGNE

This weekend Barry Cooper and Jack Knighton from the Community Trust will be heading out to Boulogne in France.

Shepway District Council is funding the trip and eight lucky boys from the Shepway area have been selected to represent them in the Boulogne Town Football Tournament, which has been set-up to celebrate France hosting the European Championships.

Shepway District Council has kindly asked the Community Trust to coach and manage the team and Barry and Jack are relishing the opportunity to take the team to France. They have been working with the team in the build-up and are keen to see them in action against teams from all over Europe.

Barry said; “Both Jack and myself are really looking forward to managing the team U12 Shepway District Council Team, we held a pre-tournament training session on Sunday at Marsh Academy, everyone was so excited and buzzing.

“The tournament begins on Saturday June 18, we will be visiting Boulogne FC during the trip and be looking to build a partnership with them, it would be great if this was the start of a professional relationship between the two clubs”

The team departs on Friday from Folkestone and will arrive in Calais for an early evening training session before getting a good night’s sleep ready for the tournament on Saturday taking place at Stade de L’Octroi. In the evening the team will be hoping to catch the Portugal v Austria game before heading back across the channel on Sunday morning.

All at Gillingham FC with the team and Barry and Jack the very best of luck in the Tournament.
