WRIGHT AGREES NEW DEAL

Popular midfielder signs new two-year contract

Gillingham FC are pleased to announce that midfielder Josh Wright has today signed a new contract at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium.

Wright, who rejoined the Gills last August having previously had a loan spell in 2009, has agreed a deal that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2018.

The 26-year-old fan favourite made 44 appearances across all competitions for the Gills last season, and also captained the side on a handful of occasions.

“I’m delighted to sign with the club,” said Wright. “There was only one place I wanted to be playing football next season, and that is at Gillingham.

“I love it at the club, the manager has been fantastic, the chairman has been spot on with the contract process and I have a special bond with the fans, who have given me great support during my time here.

“I’m really looking forward to the next two years at the club.”

Wright becomes the latest player to sign a new deal at the Gills, following goalkeepers Stuart Nelson and Tom Hadler, defender Mitch Dickenson,  midfielders Aaron Morris, Emmanuel Osadebe and Darren Oldaker, and strikers Greg Cundle and Elliott List.
