OSHILAJA RETURNS ON LOAN

Gillingham re-sign defender Deji Oshilaja on loan from Cardiff City

Gillingham have today re-signed defender Deji Oshilaja on loan from Cardiff City in a deal that runs until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old made 15 appearances in all competitions for the Gills earlier in the season during his first loan spell, which ended on January 3rd.

Manager Justin Edinburgh was hopeful of bringing Oshilaja back to the MEMS Priestfield Stadium last month, before injuries and suspensions at Cardiff City led to him being required for first team duties by his parent club.

However, recent injuries to John Egan and Bristol City loanee Adam El-Abd have resulted in the two sides negotiating and confirming this new deal.

“I'm happy to be back,” he told the GFC website. “The lads have kept the team in a good position in the league, and hopefully we can really kick on.

“It was great to see the lads again in the training this morning, everybody was buzzing."

Oshilaja is available to play at Southend United on Saturday, and the loan can be extended to cover the Sky Bet League One play-off fixtures should Gillingham be involved.
