WOMENS AND GIRLS UPDATE 23

Weekly update of what has been happening at the club this week....

GILLS LADIES VICTORIOUS OVER HATTERS

Gills Ladies continued their run of home games in the FA Women’s Premier League and welcomed Luton Town LFC to Chatham Town FC. Four goals in the second half was enough to see Gills Ladies secure all three points and spring to third place in the league at the expense of the visiting side.

The talking point of the first half came on half hour mark when Luton had a player sent off for two bookable offences and were reduced to ten players, however, Luton remained resilient until half time only allowing Gills Ladies one chance on goal before the break. Early in the second half Gills Ladies were awarded a penalty however, this was not converted and the game remained 0-0. On the hour mark Gills Ladies opened the scoring through Kallie Balfour who quickly scored a second goal followed by a goal from Lauren Davis and Lauren Williams. Gills Ladies had a couple of chances in the closing minutes to extend their lead, but the woodwork kept the score line at 4-0.

With only one fixture remaining for the U17s against Millwall the rest of the squads have now completed their league programme and will turn their focus to out of region fixtures against other Centres. The squads will also continue with fixtures against local boys teams, which have proved very popular with the girls and is something they are keen to continue.
