STEVE LOVELL LEAVES GILLINGHAM

Manager Justin Edinburgh praises the former first-team club for his dedicated work

Gillingham FC today announces the departure of first-team coach Steve Lovell from the club.


Lovell, who played for the Gills between 1987 and 1992 before working as a Football in the Community officer at the club, rejoined us as youth team coach in 2014.


He was part of the club's caretaker management team who steered the first-team squad away from the League One relegation places in January 2015, and was appointed first-team coach following the arrival of manager Justin Edinburgh the following month.


“Steve has been an integral part of the coaching team, and I would like to thank him for his dedicated work since I joined the club,” said Edinburgh. “It goes without saying that I'd like to wish him the best of luck for the future.”


Also leaving the club is first-team performance analyst Nick Gearing, who spent a year-and-a-half in the role working alongside the club's management.


Gillingham FC would like to thank both Steve and Nick for their hard work and commitment to the club, and wish them well for the future.
