TEAM NEWS
Gills assistant manager David Kerslake confirmed that both Frank Nouble and Chris Herd are in contention to start after a period on the sidelines through injury. Nouble played 26 minutes in the defeat to Oxford on Tuesday, replacing Billy Knott; however Herd has not featured for the Gills since the FA Cup replay at Brackley Town.
Wing-backs Bradley Garmston and Ryan Jackson will miss the visit of Rochdale through injury, as will long-term absentees Jonathan Bond, Lee Martin and Aaron Morris.
Kerslake expressed his delight in how well the injured players are recovering, after picking up multiple knocks in the first few weeks on the campaign, and believes the squad is starting to take shape now.
“We seem to be getting there now, we’re getting our players back up to speed,” he said.
THE OPPOSITION
Striker Joe Bunney is in contention to start having missed Dale’s 4-0 win over Walsall on Tuesday through suspension, after picking up five yellow cards.
Calvin Andrew will serve the seventh of his 12-game suspension against the Gills on Saturday, and Dale will be hoping Keith Keane is fit after missing the midweek victory through injury.
Keith Hill’s team come in to the match in fine form, having scored 10 goals and conceded none in their last three games, and sit in fifth place in Sky Bet League One.
LAST TIME WE MET
The teams faced each other at Spotland in April, with both battling for a play-off position in the Sky Bet League One table.
Callum Camps opened the scoring for Dale on the stroke of half-time, but John Egan’s 77th-minute equaliser ensured that both teams left with a point.
The teams have met 42 times in total, with the Gills winning 13, drawing 16 and losing 13.
