GOAL OF THE MONTH: OCTOBER

Vote for your October Goal of the Month

Vote for your goal of the month for the chance to win tickets to England women vs Slovenia at Medway Park on Tuesday, November 22, courtesy of Table Tennis England.

October’s shortlist includes goals from two Academy graduates, exceptional hold-up play and a well-worked set-play routine with a cool finish.

Here are this month’s nominees:

#GILLSGOTM1: Josh Wright claimed his third goal of the season to date against Bristol Rovers, after scoring only once in the entire 2015/16 campaign. The captain escaped his marker from a Ryan Jackson long-throw, before burying the ball from six-yards to make it 1-0.

#GILLSGOTM2: Scott Wagstaff was the provider and Cody McDonald the finisher in the evening match against Walsall. The former did extremely well to hold the ball up, before executing an inch-perfect cross to McDonald, who rose highest to head in the opener.

#GILLSGOTM3: Charlton Athletic came to Gillingham for the first time in a competitive match since 2009, and former Addick Bradley Dack popped up with a looping header at the back-post to score against his old club. Paul Konchesky, another of the Gills’ Charlton connections, provided the assist.

#GILLSGOTM4: Jake Hessenthaler scored his eighth career goal for the Gills with an instinctive strike from 20-yards. Fleetwood only half cleared following a corner, and the midfielder struck first-time into the bottom corner to level the scores.
