TEAM NEWS
Assistant manager David Kerslake confirmed in the week that the club's first team squad is getting back to full fitness, which he believes will be an extra incentive for the players to play well.
“We almost have a fully fit squad now, so there’s a lot of competition for the players,” said Kerslake. “It has been an awful run of injuries and it has been testing at times, but I know we will come through.”
Kerslake praised Saturday’s opponents Rovers for their work ethic and fantastic 2015/16 season as they gained promotion from League Two, but believes the Gills have enough to win the match.
He added: “They have a great team spirit and are extremely hard-working. But we believe that if we match any team then we have the quality to go on and take all three points."
LAST TIME WE MET
The last time the teams met was at the Memorial Stadium back in January 2013's League Two fixture, when the Champions-elect met rock-bottom Rovers. The Gills took all three points with a 2-0 victory, thanks to first-half strikes from Chris Whelpdale and Deon Burton.
In total, the teams have met 102 times, with the Gills winning 38, drawing 19 and losing 45.
