The Gillingham FC Community Trust are calling on schools to sign up for the EFL girls and kids cups

Gillingham FC Community Trust are once again hosting the local rounds of the Kinder +Sport EFL Girls Cup and Kids Cup in November.

Schools across Kent are invited to enter the tournaments to try and bring the prestigious cup trophies back to the MEMS Priestfield Stadium. Over 20,000 children from schools across the country will take part in the six-a-side tournaments, with a chance for the finalists to play at Wembley Stadium! Along the way there are some great prizes for schools to win too such as medals, trophies and certificates as well as team kits and footballs, so that all participants can remember their achievement of taking part in one of the country’s largest national football competitions.

The local stages of the competitions will be running in November 2016, and we will again be looking for the best school team in Kent to represent Gillingham FC at the area and regional finals. All schools are welcome to enter teams of eight players – contact us via GFCCT@priestfield.com to sign up now!  Full details are below:

How to get involved…
Getting involved couldn’t be simpler. If you want your school team to take part in either tournament, just arrange a team of eight children, and then contact the club via GFCCT@priestfield.com for a registration form.

Places are limited for the tournament and will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis. Once we have received your registration form we will email you confirmation of receipt and a list of rules and regulations for the tournament, along with directions to the venue in Strood.

What happens next?
Once the local tournaments have taken place, the winners will go on to represent Gillingham FC in the next rounds. The Girls Cup winner will represent the club at the area finals hosted at Millwall in January 2017, while the winning local Kids Cup team will be invited to the Regional Finals in March, hosted by Milton Keynes Dons.

The winners of the Area and Regional Finals will then progress to the National Finals of the competitions played at Wembley Stadium.

Last year Sittingbourne-based Westlands School represented the Gills at the Girls Cup Area Final, while Joy Lane Primary School travelled from Whitstable to put on an impressive display at the Kids Cup Regional Final.

Can your school take the Gills all the way to Wembley this year? Register now to find out!
