PENNOCK: “WE HAVE TO TURN UP ON SATURDAY”

Gills head coach previews Saturday's last home game of the season against Fleetwood

Gills head coach Ady Pennock believes his players have to deliver a good performance on Saturday to beat promotion-chasing Fleetwood Town at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium, with a victory likely to secure the club's Sky Bet League One status.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Friday, Pennock also gave an update on playmaker Bradley Dack and reflects on the Gills' Easter results.

Pennock on… the Fleetwood game: “There is pressure on them as they have to come here and win [to keep up with Bolton Wanderers in the automatic promotion race]; they can’t afford any other result. I think it will be an interesting game.

“We have to turn up tomorrow. We cannot wait for the game and the players are up for it. The feeling after the game on Good Friday [against Bristol Rovers] was unbelievable for everyone involved and we want that feeling again.”

Pennock on… the Easter performances: “I thought they were two good performances. The feeling after Good Friday’s game was fantastic. The atmosphere was brilliant and the layers did ever so well.

“The Charlton scoreline was poor but I thought we played well. The disappointing thing was that we weren’t great in both boxes.

“We wanted six points and we got three, whereas others around us got one, so it is positive. However, I was disappointed with the Charlton result.”

Pennock on... Bradley Dack: “You won’t be seeing him in the next couple of games as he has been suspended [for a further two games] by the FA for the MK Dons sending off, which is a big blow for us.

“He is a very good footballer and I thought he played really well against Charlton.”
