Gills haven’t beaten the Royals since April 1999, but Pennock is optimistic of a good result.
He said: “It’s a fantastic tie for us and we know they will present tough opposition, however we will go there with no fear and do our best to book our place in the next round.”
Gillingham defeated Southend and Watford in last year’s competition before being knocked out by Tottenham at White Hart Lane.
