A LETTER FROM THE CHAIRMAN

A letter from Chairman Paul Scally.

Dear Supporters

Take Heart Mission to Sri Lanka

13th – 24th September 2017

__________________________

I would like to thank all of our supporters and sponsors for their generous support of the ‘Take Heart’ fundraising Ball last Saturday, an extremely successful event that has raised over £40k which will enable your club to take another team of volunteer heart medics from the Evelina London Children’s Hospital to Sri Lanka in September, whereby they will operate on up to 21 critically sick children with serious heart defects.

In addition, the Club will be sending six coaches from our Youth team/Community and they will carry out eight days of coaching for boys and girls drawn from the schools in and around Galle, in the South of the Country.  The majority of these children have little in the way of playing gear, and whilst GFC will give each child a complimentary playing shirt, we would like to take out this year as many pairs of children’s and young adults football boots as possible, which we will distribute to as many of the group as possible.

We anticipate coaching around 1400 children over the period, so please send us any boots (or decent trainers) your children no longer use, or have outgrown, and we will ensure they find a good home.

If you could drop them into the Club for the attention of Malcolm Stedman, our kitman, he will get them prepared for the trip in September.

We will post pictures on our Club website and social media, and will get the coaches to do a blog you can all follow; you may even spot your donated boots if you’re lucky.

Thank you in anticipation.

Best wishes.

Paul D P Scally
