Former Yeovil Town defender Alex Lacey has today become Gillingham’s first signing ahead of the 2017/18 Sky Bet League one season, joining the club on a two-year deal.
The Milton Keynes-born defender was one of Yeovil’s standout performers last season, making 47 appearances for the Glovers and picking up two accolades at the Player of the Year Awards.
“The prospect of playing in League One was very attractive,” said the 23-year-old. “I met with Ady [Pennock] and Peter [Taylor] and it seems like a very good setup at the club; very professional and ambitious.
“A personal goal of mine would be to play in every single game next season. I want to be in a successful team and see how far we can go up in the league."
Lacey came through the youth system at Luton Town, before moving to Yeovil in 2015 and scored four goals for the Glovers last campaign.
