GILLINGHAM V WIGAN ATHLETIC

Sky Bet League One

MEMS Priestfield Stadium

Tuesday October 17

Kick-off, 7.45pm

Team News:

Steve Lovell welcomes Tom Eaves back to his squad with the striker having completed his four match suspension.

Luke O’Neill (hamstring), Alex Lacey (knee) and Ben Nugent (foot) remain absent. Bradley Garmston and Scott Wagstaff are continuing with their respective recoveries and it remains to be seen whether they will be risked twice in the space of four days.

As for Wigan, midfielder Lee Evans is suspended while Christian Walton (ankle), Craig Morgan (hip) and Shaun MacDonald (broken leg) are out.

Management Comments:

Steve Lovell – “They are a very good side and it will be a challenge for us. Wigan are favourites to go up this year so to get a result tonight we have to all give 100% with and without the ball and work hard for the full 90 minutes.”

Paul Cook – “It was great for Steve (Lovell) to go in as caretaker and pick up a result that probably nobody expected them to get. It was a thoroughly deserved result for them on the balance of play so they’ll be going into the game tomorrow very much buoyed by that.

“They’ll be looking at it with great optimism but for ourselves it’s an opportunity to go down there and keep our record going.” (Link)

In total the two sides have met on 34 occasions with both sides winning 14 matches each.
