Gills FA Youth Cup campaign will begin with a home fixture against Portsmouth.
Gillingham's U18's take to the main pitch at MEMS Priestfield Stadium this evening when they take on Portsmouth in the opening round of the FA Youth Cup (7pm).
Last season the Gills reached round four of the competition, eventually losing out to a strong Sheffield Wednesday side at Hillsborough.
Mark Patterson, the club's youth team manager, said: “It’s nice to get a home draw but that doesn’t make the game any easier. We will treat Portsmouth with an enormous amount of respect, prepare in the appropriate way and give it everything we have.
“We want to progress in any competition we play in, and this one is no different.”
