Gills supporter to take on cycling challenge for Take Heart

Kimberley Cogger will be raising money pitchside at the Medway Priestfield Stadium on Saturday 25th August.

Gillingham FC would like to wish good luck to a close friend, Kimberley Cogger, as she begins her final preparations prior to a huge cycling challenge which begins within the next few weeks.

Kimberley will endeavour to take on Britain’s world famous long-distance cycle challenge - Lands End to John O' Groats.  The aim is to cycle through 23 counties and cover 980 miles from the most south westerly point of Cornwall to the most north easterly tip of Scotland. This test of endurance will also, hopefully, see Kimberley climb nearly twice the height of Everest whilst cycling up to 118 miles per day.

Kimberley said:  “It will be a really good thing to do, just the immense challenge, raising the money; I set myself a target of £2500 and yesterday I reached that target, so now it’s trying to up it and use it to get Take Heart to Sri Lanka.

“It just seems such an incredible distance and a massive journey to go on. It’s really pushing myself – if I’m asking people for sponsorship I needed to do something that they would actually want to give their money for.”

The challenge will begin on Saturday 8th September and Kimberley is hoping to arrive at John O’Groats on Sunday 16th September.
