Man of the Match reflects on Doncaster defeat.
Gills forward Elliott List says the team shouldn't dwell on Saturday's 3-1 defeat to Doncaster and quickly switch focus to Tuesday's game at Southend.
Steve Lovell’s men were beaten 3-1 by Rovers at Priestfield as they ended 2018 with defeat.
Doncaster were 3-0 up after an hour and following their second List knew that it was going to be more than a long way back for the Gills.
“I guess it’s one of those games where it wasn’t meant to be," he said. "The goals we gave away killed us off, but we gave it our all in the last 15 and it wasn’t meant to be."
Having beaten Portsmouth in a physically demanding game just three days prior, List is adamant that the victory was not an excuse for the team’s indifferent performance.
“There’s no excuses, every game we've got to go in and be professional and always give your all. If you’re not feeling up for it, then it’s up to you to let the gaffer know and he can make changes.”
On a positive note for the Gills, the game saw the return of top goal scorer Tom Eaves and List, voted `Man of the Match` against Doncaster, realises how big of a boost it will be for the team.
“It was disappointing to lose the league’s top scorer but it was nice to have him back out there. I’m sure the fans will be delighted that he is back as well.”
