SCUNTHORPE UNITED V GILLINGHAM
Sky Bet League 1
Glanford Park
Saturday January 20
Kick-Off, 3pm
Team News:
Scott Wagstaff (hamstring) will miss the game due to injury. Billy Bingham (leg) is recovering well but Aaron Morris (knee) remains a long-term absentee. Callum Reilly signed for the club on Thursday and is eligible for selection.
Scunthorpe are without goalkeeper Matt Gilks (calf) so Rory Watson will continue between the sticks. Cameron McGeehan and Ivan Toney are both pushing for a place in the starting XI.
Manager Comments:
Graham Alexander – “They are one of the form teams in League One. Steve Lovell has done a fantastic job. The results have certainly picked up, but we felt they were in a false position last time.
"He is now getting the best out of his players so we know the challenge coming our way on Saturday. We are confident in the run we have got going and we are looking to continue that.”
Steve Lovell – “Whatever has gone, has gone. The last six games have been brilliant for us but now it is the seventh which is the most important.
“We approach it the same way as we have done the others and hopefully get something out of the game.”
Previous Meetings:
Gillingham haven’t beaten Scunthorpe at Glanford Park since November 1999 and lost 5-0 at the venue last season. However Steve Lovell’s side are unbeaten in their last six games.
The sides last met in September when the Gills, under the management of Peter Taylor, earned a point in a 0-0 draw at MEMS Priestfield Stadium. In total the teams have met on 42 occasions. Scunthorpe edge the head to head statistics with 15 wins to 12.
Odds:
Scunthorpe win – 4/5
Draw – 13/5
Gills win – 10/3
Special: Josh Parker to score first in a 2-1 Gillingham win – 55/1.
