Joe Walsh gets England call-up

England come calling for Gills stopper.

Gillingham FC is delighted to announce that goalkeeper Joe Walsh has been called up the England U16’s squad.

Joe, 15, was recently awarded a two-year scholarship at the club and his impressive displays have been rewarded with a trip to St. George’s Park for a 10-day training camp in February.

Bryan Bull, Schoolboys Development Manager said: “I am delighted for Joe who has worked so hard since he joined us as an 11 year old. He is not only a talented young man but also a personable and likeable individual who all at the Academy are absolutely delighted for.

“Great credit must also go to lead Academy goalkeeper coach Spencer Creedon and the other staff who have worked with him over the last few years. It caps off what has been a tremendous few days for the Academy.”
