Gills to play Millwall in Carabao Cup

Millwall will be the opposition in the first round of the Carabao Cup.

Gillingham will play Millwall at the Den in the first round of the Carabao Cup.

The draw was made in Vietnam last Friday and it will see Steve Lovell return to one of his former clubs, having played for the Lions between 1983 and 1987.

Millwall, under the management of ex-Gills striker Neil Harris, finished eighth in the Sky Bet Championship last season and will welcome the Kent club to South East London the week commencing August 13.

The two teams last met on April 7, 2017 at the Medway Priestfield Stadium when Joe Quigley’s 67th minute strike was cancelled out by Steve Morison’s equaliser just five minutes later. The match finished 1-1.

A date for the tie has yet to be confirmed. Ticket details will be announced nearer the time.
